Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely Easter break and really enjoyed yourselves. A warm welcome to all those joining us this term. We are pleased to tell you Cat gave birth to a little girl on the 8th April. Both Cat & baby are doing well.

I would like to thank the staff, who during the first week of the holidays took on the make over of our tired front garden. We now have a log inspired mud pit, a music wall, 2 kitchens, 1 for mud & 1 for loose parts, a spruced-up play house with all manner of exciting “things” inside, new gardening tools, old car tyres turned into planting beds & so much more. We will be having lots of fun going on bug hunts as well as digging, planting & exploring in the front garden. Our back play area is home to our homemade obstacle courses, bear hunts & many other fun activities!

We would also like to shout out a thank you to our committee members who have supported the garden make over by providing paint, plants, seeds & pots, not to mention funds by raising £34 from the cake sale on the last Friday of term.

As this is now the time of year the sun can make an appearance, please can you make sure all children have sun screen applied before they come in, either in the morning or afternoon. Children who are staying all day, will have it reapplied during the afternoon, if it is needed & they bring in their own named cream/lotion. Please put it in their bags. We will assume that all children are adequately protected from the sun when they step into playgroup & therefore will be able to play outside in the sun. So don't forget the sun hats!

This term our topic is “Mark Making”. We will be looking at all the different ways we can mark make & how we can use these marks (writing, drawing, painting, rubbing's ect) to among other things show how we are feeling, what we see & hear, what we love to do & what films/programmes we enjoy watching.

We will be holding a dressing up week for the children during the week starting the 12th

May, to help raise funds for the playgroup. (More details will follow in an email)

Our 'WOW' board is now filling up with all those milestone awards, certificates & photos (we would still like to see more). This board is for you to share any achievements made outside of Playgroup, favourite pets or people, not just of the children, but anyone in the family.  If you have a certificate or a picture you would like to share, we would love to put it on display. Don't forget about the book lending basket/rack for you & your children to look through & choose one to take home to read & share. We also have a couple of story bags available to borrow.

PLEASE NO PARKING IN THE SCHOOL

Julie
