June 2022 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely break and really enjoyed yourselves.

As this is the Summer term, we are all hoping that the sun shines!!!  We would ask that all children have sun screen applied before they come in, either in the morning or afternoon. Children who are staying all day, will have it reapplied during the afternoon, if they bring in their own named cream/lotion. Please put it in their bags. We will assume that all children are adequately protected from the sun when they step into the playgroup & therefore will be able to play outside in the sun. PLEASE DON'T FORGET HATS/CAPS.

This term our topic is Maths. We will be revisiting our height charts to see how much we have grown & painting our hands & feet again to measure the difference in size. We will be continuing to do lots of singing whilst learning our sums!!

This is the last term for our children who are getting ready to move on  to 'Big School'. We will be having a couple of visits from their future teachers. All the staff wish them well as they make this big step in their young lives.

I would like to thank everyone for supporting dressing up week. The children seemed to really enjoy coming in as their favourite hero/heroine & we raised a fantastic £73.30.

All the children who came to our JUBILEE party & tree planting enjoyed the afternoon making crowns, tiaras, flags & playing party games (as did the staff!!). We are still running the “Guess The Value of The Queen In The Jar” until sports day, as unfortunately we only had a couple of parents/carers have a go. For £2 a go you can write down your guess & the person nearest the correct amount wins the jar & of course the coins!! It is on top of the phone box in the hall if you would like to have a go.

We now have our very own Literacy Champion JO, who will be working along side SBC & The National Literacy Trust, to encourage all children & their families to love books & reading. So don't forget about the book lending basket on the chair at the end of the day & the book rack in the hall at the start of the day for you & your children to look through & choose a book or bag to take home to read & share. We also have a couple of story bags available to borrow as well as activity bags for the 7 areas of learning. These bags include a “prompt sheet” about what's in the bag & how/why you might use the resources. Please remember there is no need to let us know you have taken one & don't worry if it gets accidentally damaged.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

As of Monday 6th June, NO mobile phones are to be used on LPA's site. This means as soon as you come through the school gates you must not text or answer your phones. The schools manager has informed me that they will be challenging parent/carers/playgroup staff that they see using their phones. Please also make sure that your children stay with you at all times (within arms length) & you have your red playgroup card with you in case you are asked for it (I have more if you need another one). These measures have had to be put in place due to a safe guarding audit that was carried out by LPA. Thank you for your understanding.

Coming up this term we have the Sponsored Playgroup Big Toddle, Leavers Presentation & Sports Day which will be held on the last day of term Friday 15th  July.  Please be aware that Playgroup will not be open for normal sessions on Sports Day.
